Slang rules!

Dear all,

Cut the cheese: flatulate; fart (peidar; “soltar um pum”; “soltar uma bufa”)

Gee, open the window for Chrissake! Someone just cut the cheese!Putz, abre a janela, pelo amor de Deus! Alguém acabou de soltar uma bufa!
Tie the knot: get married (casar-se)

“Did you hear the news? Tony and Julie are finally going to tie the knot,” Rachel told a friend.“Você ouviu a novidade? O Tony e a Julie vão finalmente se casar”, Rachel contou para uma amiga.
“I was thinking of tying the knot with Sandra, but I am a little scared to be honest,” Roger told a friend.
“Eu estava pensando em me casar com a Sandra, mas para ser sincero eu estou um pouco assustado com a ideia”, Roger disse para um amigo.
When the shit hits the fan: when all the expected trouble happens (“quando der merda”)

“I don’t want to be in the office when the shit hits the fan,” said Jeff to his coworkers.
“Eu não quero estar no escritório quando der merda”, disse Jeff aos colegas de trabalho.
“I’m counting on you to back me up when the shit hits the fan,” Ron told Todd.
“Estou contando com o seu apoio quando der merda”, Ron disse para o Todd.
