Words of the year

Every year, some of the most renowned dictionary publishers, such as Collins, Merriam-Webster, and Oxford University Press, acknowledge the ever-evolving nature of English language by selecting some trending words that are being used by speakers. Often, these words already exist but new social meaning is attributed to them in a variety of contexts, and in many cases the public are given the chance to vote and decide on their favourite words.
