Here is a good suggestion on how to find songs for you and your students to sing. It’s the Karaoke Channel (https://www.thekaraokechannel.com/). It offers a wide variety of karaoke songs that will help your students to have fun and improve their English. One of the great advantages of these videos is that the lyrics that appear on the screen change colors, so you always know what you have to sing and when.
You can subscribe to the channel, paying a monthly fee and having access to a great number of songs. However, you can also find lots of free songs on youtube. All you have to do is write “karaoke channel” in the youtube search box.
Here are a few examples for you to take a look:
Yesterday (The Beatles):
Always on My Mind (Willie Nelson):
Seasons of Love (from the Broadway musical “Rent”):
Rolling in the Deep (Adele):
Now that you know it, you can try to find other songs that you like or that you think your students will like. I sometimes meet students who were in my classes years ago and they still remember some of the songs we sang together in class. Music is a powerful tool in the English class.
Have fun and enjoy!
Using songs to teach English is always a good experience. You can motivate your students to learn more, you can help them improve their pronunciation, and you can also teach or review grammar if you choose songs that have the target structures in the lyrics.
