Sombra (1) Shadow
>> Para referir-se, por exemplo, à sombra de uma pessoa na parede:
> It was so dark and quiet in the graveyard that Peter got scared when he saw his own shadow on the wall.
Estava tão escuro e quieto no cemitério que Peter se assustou quando viu a própria sombra na parede.
Sombra (2) Shade
>> Para dizer “à sombra”, o oposto de “ao sol” (in the sun):
> It’s so hot today! It’s ninety-nine degrees [Fahrenheit] in the shade!
Está tão quente hoje! Está fazendo 37 graus à sombra!
Padrinho (1) Godfather
>> De batismo.
> Mark was really proud when Fred invited him to be his daughter’s godfather.
Mark ficou mesmo orgulhoso quando Fred o convidou para ser o padrinho da filha.
Padrinho (2) Best man
>> De casamento.
> Tom invited his long-time friend Dave to be the best man at his wedding ceremony.
Tom convidou Dave, seu amigo de longa data, para ser seu padrinho de casamento.
Receita (1) Recipe
>> Culinária.
> The pie will turn out fine if you stick to the recipe!
A torta vai sair boa se você seguir a receita!
Receita (2) Prescription
>> Médica.
> This handwriting is so confusing. I can hardly make out what is written on the prescription.
Esta caligrafia está tão confusa! Mal consigo distinguir o que está escrito na receita.
Receita (3) Revenue
>> Financeira.
> That software company has doubled its revenues over the past five years.
Aquela empresa de software dobrou sua receita nos últimos cinco anos.
